Olivia: How do you feel about winning the Can’t Live Without Tech contest?

Terence: I’m really shocked that I won after seeing the votes other entries had received. I didn’t expect my video to be chosen at all. It’s like a dream come true as I’ve always wanted to visit US but never had the money before hence this is a really golden opportunity for me.

Olivia: Have you always been composing music using technology?

Terence: I have a real piano at home, which I had learnt to play since young. Audrey, the vocals in the video, is the one who loaned me the iPad, her voice and brainstormed the whole idea with me. She is savvier and has the relevant equipment. I’m still learning.

Olivia: Are you looking forward to going to Silicon Valley?
Terence: Yes of course.

Olivia: What do you look forward to in Silicon Valley?

Terence: As I had never imagined I would win this contest, I never really psyched myself to find out what I will be able to see there. For a start I look forward to checking out the Lucas Film studios and of course the Golden Gate Bridge! This will be the time for me to look up the places in Silicon Valley and I can learn more about the creative aspect of infocomm which the area I am passionate about, like animation and concept art.

Olivia: How are you going to spend $2,000 cash prize?

Terence: As Audrey will not be able to join me at Silicon Valley, I will let her have the cash prize, which she has already planned to donate to a charity of her choice.

Olivia: Give us a behind-the-scene report on how you created the iPad song.

Terence: Audrey and I met up in church to brainstorm. She wrote the lyrics and we came up with the melody together. Once we got the details down pat, we went to her place and started the recording process. We manage to do the entire project in a day!
