Barclays and Accenture Visits (16 July 2010)

Barclays

Wonder what Infocomm@Work has been up to lately? Here’s a snapshot of two visits we made to two of our National Infocomm Scholarship sponsor companies – Barclays Capital and Accenture!

Students from Victoria Junior College and National Junior College were treated to an eye-opening session with one of the world’s leading financial services provider – Barclays Group.

Barclays presentation and sharing session

Aside from offering corporate, government, institutional and individual clients investment banking, asset management and wealth management services, Barclays also has a technology centre in Singapore. Students learnt about the role of technology in wealth management, life in Barclays and other topics that were not covered were discussed over the Question and Answer segment.

Of course, no visit is ever complete without...food!

Networking session

Accenture

On the same day, another group of students from Hwa Chong Institution, National Junior College, National University Singapore High School of Math and Science, Raffles Institution Junior College and Victoria Junior College visited Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.

Apart from the usual tour of office and introduction of services, Accenture specially arranged for an external Human Resources & Career Consultant to give our students some handy tips on how to write winning resumes, ace interviews and seal their dream internships!

Ace that interview!

After which, they were given a tour of the Accenture building...

The mark of a good company - its coffee machine!

A foosball table, even better!

After the events, our students could not stop gushing out the technology involved, office facilities and useful tips picked up from industry experts. All in all, it was a great learning experience and gave them lots of exposures.
