The National Infocomm Competency Framework
To remain competitive, Singapore must move towards grooming a world-class infocomm manpower for Singapore to compete globally. One of the strategies under the Intelligent Nation 2015 masterplan is to develop a pool of techno-strategists who are infocomm-savvy with sharp business acumen to drive national economic competitiveness. Jointly-developed by IDA, WDA and the industry, the National Infocomm Competency Framework (NICF) is a standard that defines the certification and competency requirements for infocomm professionals to develop competencies relevant for their career and hence improving the employability of our workforce
The articulation of standards through NICF will guide and steer infocomm employees, employers and training providers in the development of competencies within the industry. It will raise the standing of infocomm professionals and for Singapore to benchmark our professionals against global demands.
More specifically, NICF offers infocomm professionals various career options based their competencies, by mapping out their career paths, showing the competencies and certifications needed; and eventually planning their career advancement. For organisations, NICF acts as a talent management and assessment tool to assist organisations better profile jobs to meet industry standards, make informed decisions and recruit the best infocomm talent.
