Aditya Lesmana, SCS
I am a simple person who commands a diverse set of interests ranging from sports to various artistic endeavors and am always eager to try new things. In my spare time, I play soccer or go for hiking trips. Some of the activities that I am currently focusing on are visual design, Saman dance and magazine publications.

Currently I am involved in PRISM magazine publication as editor cum designer while polishing my Saman movements which will be performed at the upcoming Indonesian Arts Festival.

It is indeed difficult to juggle various commitments academic or otherwise and yet I enjoy every bit of it. The opportunity to challenge myself beyond what I could think of is a generous reward on its own.

A word of Advice
Be passionate with whatever you are going to do. That will be one of your sources of strength when things get tough. After all, more than just scholarship, the National Infocomm Scholarship is a career choice. Not forgetting, please do invest some time to plan and stick to it as much as you can - before embarking any activities.

Lin Zhi Yuan, Frontline Technologies
I am very into photography, and other interests include travelling and swimming. Recently, I headed a team of volunteers to Village Chan, Prey Veng, Cambodia. Over there, we conducted basic English lessons, food culture exchange, and a sports day. In addition, we dug wells and built a library for the school.

My friends and family describe me as an outgoing, energetic, dynamic person, and very committed to the tasks I set out to achieve.

A word of Advice
I feel that Infocomm is ever-changing and volatile in nature. In order to make yourself relevant to the IT industry in future, it is vital to enrich yourself with multidisciplinary knowledge in various areas.

Always keep yourself updated with the latest technological advancements, rather than burying yourself in books and striving to do well only in studies.

Alvin Poh, Microsoft Singapore
I am a cheerful, friendly and extroverted person who's very motivated and driven. I spend a lot of time on Infocomm pursuits, but other than that, I find time to keep fit and take part in sports such as rockclimbing, and go for enrichment classes such as yoga, salsa dancing, and windsurfing.

In the recent Gravical, which was SMU's first rockclimbing competition, I emerged first runner-up in the Men's Open category. I'm also the President of SMU's Toastmasters club, and constantly try to improve my public speaking and communication skills.

I also find that improving yourself in other areas is another crucial aspect of having a well-rounded growth as an individual, which is why I'm taking up community service projects even after fulfilling my mandatory hours set by the school.

A word of Advice
Infocomm is an area which I have a burning interest and passion in, so the National Infocomm Scholarship is a natural extension. Once you have interest and passion in whatever you do, you'll find that your performance can only grow from strength to strength.

My advice is to follow your heart in whatever you do, and make sure that you have passion in what you're doing.

Lim Jia Wei, DBS
I have been playing rugby for 8 years now. I really appreciate the sport for strengthening me, when it comes to being able to make sound decisions in times when I am both physically and mentally stretched. Above all, it is the camaraderie of my fellow team mates which keeps me motivated! The times we spent training, playing, hanging out, on or off the field, in disappointment or in joy simply unforgettable!

I've also picked up a new interest slightly less than a year ago-photography. Besides the tangible results of getting magnificent photos, the process of viewing life and objects from different points of view really excites me. Photography has taught me to slow down and appreciate everyone and everything around me more.

My loved ones and friends around me know me as an independent person, who never fails to try out new gadgets and activities.

A word of Advice
Be flexible and dynamic. In this ever evolving world of infocomm, it is important that we are able to exhibit those traits. New technologies and methodologies are always being unveiled and it is necessary for us to stay current, this means having to change our mindset at times.

In my opinion, infocomm professionals therefore need to be flexible and dynamic, always capable of approaching, solving and adapting to the myriad of challenges in many different ways.

Jason Wei, NCS
I am an easy going person and always game for an adventure. That is why I love to travel and see the world. I just went for an exchange program to the UK and it was a wonderful experience for me. In the 5 months studying in a British university, I learnt to appreciate the differences in our education styles and also the culture of the British people. I also traveled around Europe widely, and have visited Austria, France, Ireland, Spain, Scotland, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Holland.

I have also been to most countries in Asia including Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia. Learning about new cultures, meeting people from different places are some of the reasons why I enjoy traveling.

A word of Advice
It is difficult for anyone at the age of 18-19 to decide on their future career. What I can say is to do something you enjoy, or you know you will enjoy doing. Do not be too concerned about which job sector is doing well now, or which sector will potentially prosper. If you study what you like, it is easier to excel in what you do. And at the end of the day, you are a happier person.
