Occupation Description
Primary Purpose
Perform IT security analysis on a range of platforms to ensure integrity of existing and planned IT systems and to identify potential security vulnerabilities
Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce security policies and procedures across a range of platforms and systems to handle security incidents
- Trouble-shoot first line attack assessment, threat analysis and incident handling relating to network security events as they occur on operational and classified networks
- Draft and design the security architecture and intrusion detection system
- Evaluate new programming tools and techniques
- Track and monitor the security intrusion detection system
- Prepare reports on any security threats and breaches and recommend counter measures to protect system integrity
- Maintain currency with security technologies and architectures as well as with potential threats such as those posed by viruses and unauthorised system access
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years experience in administering network security as well as a sound knowledge of personal computers/workstations or similar information technology function
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
